Implants

Implants

Dental implants effectively replace missing teeth and are designed to blend in with your other teeth. It is a long-term option for restoring your smile.

Dental implant surgery is a procedure that replaces tooth roots with metal posts and replaces damaged or missing teeth with crowns that look and function much like real ones.

The type of dental implant surgery depends on the type of implant and the condition of your bone and may involve several procedures.

We use CBCT imaging to determine the condition of bone, and guide precise implant placement.

Dental implants may be an option for you if you:

  • Have missing teeth

  • Have adequate bone to secure the implants or are able to have a bone graft

  • Have good oral health, including healthy gum tissue

  • Don't have health conditions that will affect bone healing

  • Are unable or unwilling to wear dentures

  • Want to improve your speech

Veneers

Dental veneers are thin, porcelain shells that are permanently bonded to the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. Veneers are custom made to match the shade you select with your dentist.

Veneers can improve the appearance of your teeth, giving you a brighter and more even smile. Dental veneers are often used to treat:

  • broken or chipped teeth

  • severe discolouration or uneven colouring that can’t be improved with whitening

  • gaps between teeth

  • smaller-than-average teeth

  • pointed or unusually shaped teeth

Treatment can range from one veneer in the case of a broken or chipped tooth, or between six to eight veneers in order to create an even, symmetrical smile. The top front eight teeth are the most commonly applied veneers.

With proper care, veneers can last for more than a decade, making them a semipermanent investment that can make you more confident in your smile.

Crowns & Bridges

If you have one or more missing or damaged teeth, your dentist may  recommend a crown or bridge, both restorations that function more like your actual teeth.

A crown covers an existing damaged or decaying tooth or is placed on top of a dental implant to replace a missing tooth. The crown is permanently cemented over the old tooth and, once in place, it can be used like a normal tooth, including when eating, brushing and flossing.

A bridge is three or more connected crowns. A bridge is a good option if you are missing a tooth. The outside crowns of a bridge are placed like any crown over the two teeth on either side of the missing tooth. The middle tooth or teeth of a bridge sit in the spaces left by the missing teeth.

Crowns and bridges can be vital in maintaining your oral health. Gaps and tooth loss can cause your other teeth to begin rotating or shifting into the empty spaces, resulting in a bad bite. Missing teeth could also lead to gum disease and TMJ disorders.

Crowns and bridges are custom made and you will be able to select the shade of your restoration.

Bonding

Bonding is a cost-effective cosmetic option for minor dental repairs. A tooth-colored resin is applied and hardened with a special light,  bonding the material to the tooth.

Bonding can repair chipped or cracked teeth, close gaps, change the shape of teeth, or be used as a cosmetic alternative to silver amalgam fillings.

Bonding can usually be completed in one appointment, but may not last as long as crowns or implants.

White fillings

White Fillings

White fillings restore strength and structure to your tooth following the removal of decayed tooth structure. White fillings can be a suitable treatment for decay, cavities or fractured teeth. Patients with severe infection or damaged teeth may require crowns and root canal treatment.

White fillings are used to fill cavities in the same way as traditional metal fillings, but are much more natural looking and less conspicuous than silver amalgam fillings. White fillings are strong, durable and designed to match your natural tooth structure. In most cases, the natural-looking fillings blend in seamlessly with your natural teeth.

Whitening

Whitening

We offer professional Zoom! in-office whitening, as well as custom take-home whitening trays.

Over time, your teeth may become discoloured from drinking coffee, tea, cola and red wine; or from smoking. The aging process also can stain and darken your teeth.

The procedure begins with a short preparation to cover the lips and gums, leaving the teeth exposed. The Zoom hydrogen peroxide whitening gel is applied to your teeth, and works together with the Zoom light to penetrate the teeth and break up the stains and discolouration. The gel remains in place for 15 minutes while the light is activated. During this time, you can relax, watch TV or listen to music. Immediately afterwards, a sensitivity-reducing fluoride paste-gel is applied to the teeth.

The gel is applied for three 15-minute sessions of light activation, for a total treatment time of 45 minutes. Individuals with a strong gag reflex or anxiety may have difficulty undergoing the entire procedure.

With Zoom in-office whitening, you can expect to see results immediately after the appointment. Customized trays will help you maintain the results at home.
