Mouth guards, the most important sports gear.

Our patients are pretty sporty, so as we enter summer we thought we’d take a moment to remind you not to forget to wear your mouth guards. It’s pretty obvious if you’re not wearing a helmet, but the more rebellious of you may think you can get away with not wearing a mouth guard. Think again! Mouth guards, especially a properly fitted mouth guard, protect your teeth and jaw to a remarkable degree and allow you to play even harder. It’s absolutely critical to your performance, safety, and pearly whites that you properly fit your mouth guard and wear it at all times while on the field.

Some other things you can do to stay safe and off the bench this season:

    • Wear a helmet appropriate for your sport (that means a face shield if you’re playing hockey!)
    • Wear protective eyewear
    • Be observant, even as a spectator
    • Stretch before and after a game or practice

We hope this helps. Feel free to contact us with any questions. Good luck on the field!
